IREB® CPRE Requirements Engineer
As a Requirements Engineer, you transform ideas into products by translating user needs into technical specifications and turning your clients' vision into requirements.
With our training program you will sharpen your skills in systematically identifying requirements enhanced by agile methods and creativity techniques while expanding your expertise in usability and user experience.
How the training program is structured
Requirements engineering is not learned in a single training but in stages: first the terms and the process, then depth in the discipline you actually work in. The twelve trainings on this page follow exactly that order – all of them bookable as live webinars and as classroom trainings in Vienna and Frankfurt am Main.
1. Lay the foundations
The IREB® Foundation training covers the terms, techniques and process of requirements engineering and is the basis for the IREB CPRE-FL certification. No prior certification is required – if you are new to the role, this is where you begin. If you work in an agile setting, add the IREB® Agile Primer.
2. Go deeper in one discipline
At Advanced Level you choose the discipline of your work: eliciting, modeling or managing requirements, or owning them in an agile setting. Each of these modules leads to its own CPRE-AL certification and requires the Foundation certificate. In addition, the coaching for the written assignment opens the way to the CPRE-AL Specialist certification.
3. Broaden your profile
Requirements rarely take shape at a desk. The trainings on usability and user experience according to UXQB®, on creativity techniques, on requirements patterns and on the use of artificial intelligence in requirements engineering add to the IREB levels what is actually needed in workshops and stakeholder meetings.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need prior knowledge to start?
No. The IREB® Foundation training is the entry point and requires no certification. The Advanced modules build on it and do require the Foundation certificate.
In which order should I book the trainings?
Foundation first, then the Advanced module for the discipline you work in. The broadening trainings – usability, creativity techniques, requirements patterns – fit in at any point; they are not tied to a level.
Live webinar or classroom?
Both, for every training. The live webinars take place with a trainer in a small group, the classroom dates in our training centers in Vienna and Frankfurt am Main. Which dates run where is shown in the date list on this page.
In which language are the trainings held?
In German and in English. The date list on this page shows the dates in the language of the page – the English-language dates are on the English version.
Is the AI4RE micro-credential a CPRE module?
No. AI4RE sits alongside the CPRE levels and is evidenced by a separate IREB online assessment. It does not require a Foundation certificate.
